Bookseller Notes

Inscribed by the author on the initial blank, beneath the ownership inscription of M.B. Marshall: 'With good wishes from Juliet de Key Whitsed, May 1935'.The author's journal, largely written from memory, of her wartime nursing experiences, is scarce in this sort of condition; it begins with her departure in June 1917, and ends with her return to London in June 1919 - offering lively descriptions of her activities and surroundings. Whitsed subsequently published works on diet and nutrition for the sick - and food is a recurrent point of focus in the present account.
